The keys to the jail are in your pocket

“One carries the keys to the jail in his pocket.”

I read this sentence earlier this week and I can’t stop thinking about it.

It rings true and applies to many areas of our lives.

We’ve been exploring all kinds of ways to create conditions in our lives so that we can flourish.

When we work to create those conditions we are using the keys in our pockets to release the locks that hold us.

The whole point of this Flourish52 project is to look around and recognize places where we’ve let ourselves be jailed or captured.

And once we’ve identified those areas, to then look for the keys that will release us.

Sometimes it’s easy to find the key and turn it in the lock.

Other times, it takes a while to find the right key or combination to free ourselves.

In future emails, I want to explore how we become more aware so that we can identify both the prison and the keys.

I also want to take a look at the key of radical acceptance and also the element of time.

Thank you for coming along on this Flourish52 journey with me. I’ve learned a lot in the process of writing each week. I hope it’s been helpful to you as well.
