Tiny flourishes from January

Here are a few things that are making life better this month:

New workout mats

Our workout room (which also serves as a storage room), has a concrete floor with vinyl flooring over it. It’s tough on the knees when I’m doing exercises on the ground.

On my last trip to Costco, I spied some workout mats that fit together like puzzle pieces. It took two packs, but what a game changer! It’s been a great upgrade to the workout area.

My Favorite Workout Program

Speaking of working out. My favorite workout program, Faster Way to Fat Loss, is starting a new session tomorrow.

I’ve been part of Faster Way for years, although I did take a break for a while. I came back to it last May and I’m loving it again.

If you’ve been wanting to focus on your health, I highly recommend this program. Click here to find out more.

Sledding

We had enough snow to go sledding last Sunday. Three of our kids came over and we spent the afternoon going down the hill and then warming up by a fire in the fire pit. So fun!

Books

I recently listened to the book,  Horse by Geraldine Brooks. Part of the book takes place in Kentucky and talks about the thoroughbred industry.

I’m almost finished reading The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams.

Tour at Keeneland

I volunteer as a docent at the Henry Clay Estate and a group of us got to take a tour of Keeneland together. Keeneland is a thoroughbred race track. On the day we were there, they were having a horse auction.

If you’re ever in Lexington, I recommend the tour of Keeneland and of course, the tour of Asland, Henry Clay’s estate as well.

Garden planning

I’ve been thinking ahead to this summer’s garden. I’ve done a seed inventory and ordered a few things I needed. This year, I’m going to try growing sweet corn for the first time.

I also ordered several new varieties of sunflowers.

New Year’s Day Hike

I took a hike on January 1 with my oldest son. It was just the two of us and his dog, since my husband broke his big toe in December. We had a great hike though! There were slow flurries that made the woods even more beautiful.

Tea Bag Mixing

I’ve been loving the combo of Bigelow Vanilla Chai and Toasted Coconut teas to make one big cup!

Looking forward to going to the UK game on Wednesday

I’m a little early with this list for January, but I’m looking forward to closing out the month by going to a UK basketball game with Jim and two of our kids.
