Peaks and Pitfalls

I’ve had a few peaks and pitfalls recently.

I bet you have too.

Life holds plenty of both, and I find it helpful to review them so I can learn lessons that will carry me forward.

Peaks

Personal Goal

I’m still posting on my new YouTube channel.

(There are also some associated pitfalls, I’ll share below.)

I’m happy that I was able to mostly keep up my goal of posting twice a week. I’ve been gathering ideas and trying to learn all the skills required to create content for this new platform.

Teaching

I started teaching two new classes for homeschooled high school students – Creative Thinking and Critical Thinking.

We’ve had two weeks so far and it’s going really well. The students are engaged and I can see the aha moments they’re having. That’s satisfying to me!

Nature Spotting and Walking

I’ve consistently taken walks in the mornings this week and one morning I was rewarded by seeing a family of five river otters! They were swimming toward me as I stood on a bridge over the creek.

Pitfalls

Relationship

I stumbled badly with a person close to me. I started a conversation and shared something I thought the other person would be interested in discussing. I had good intentions, but I miscalculated the response from the other person.

Now the challenge is to move forward into better territory. I have confidence that we will both be able to do this, but the stumble was no fun for either of us.

Personal Goal

Back to my YouTube channel – I let the bad relationship interaction suck my energy for a bit, which put me behind in my posting goal.

I’ve also been struggling with learning to edit and with the time it takes for my internet to upload video.

And I figured out the hard way, that I need to charge the mic after each use. I filmed four segments for one video and the last five minutes are silent because the mic died.

All those combined meant I only posted one video this week.

Onward and Forward!

What are your Peaks and Pitfalls for the week?
